Summoner Wars for iOS is a digital card game with all the tactical elements of a board game. Summoner Wars for iOS allows players to control the Phoenix Elves faction and battle against AI opponents or go online to play against others. Nine additional factions such as the Tundra Orcs, Guild Dwarves and Cave Goblins are available through the game’s in-app store. For those who wish to take the game to the next level, a deck-editor allows players to select the cards in their factions and reinforcements to build a custom deck to play with, within the confines of the rules. Changing cards can affect game play, making the game infinitely customizable.

A Playdek online account is required to play online.

Summoner Wars is a popular fantasy card game where players take on the role of a Summoner. Players cast spells and summon warriors to a battlefield and tactically maneuver them in an effort to defeat their opponent’s summoner. Summoner Wars offers many faction decks for players to choose from, like the precise Phoenix Elves, the hordes of Cave Goblins, or the righteous Vanguards. Each faction offers unique play and requires players to adapt to the special strategies available to that faction. Pros and cons of Summoner Wars app for iPhone and iPad

This is a turn based RPG which requires a good deal of strategy and a bit of luck and is currently tied as my favorite game along with Hearthstone and Lords of Waterdeep. Its priced just right especially for the amount of play you get for your dollar, props to the developers for keeping in-app purchases the way they should be and not money hungry bottomless pits, you get exactly what you choose to buy no gimmicks or ongoing spending. Theres always a good player to take on when you post a game and its always fresh, even with players you play on a recurrent basis. A couple requests, ever since the expansion update, notifications have stopped working, it would be great if this could be fixed so we know when its our turn. Also there are times (infrequent and not overly bothersome) when connection to the server is unavailable, Im assuming these are times of server maintenance, it would be nice if a notice or notification were posted when this is occurring or scheduled to occur. And one last wish would be some sort of in game chat, maybe not live but a place you could post communications to enrich the overall game experience, especially for players you play regularly with. Thanks for the great game and if youre on the fence about spending money on this game it is really worth it, even if you just played single player offline against the AI its a real bargain compared to most games in the App Store. Five Stars, we want more games like this one!

I have played many other card and board games, but none are as balanced, interesting, and fun as Summoner Wars. The only problem with the app version is that I could not find the special rules for filth cards, vine walls, etc. Everything else is amazing. The AI is challenging, the UI is easy to use, and online mode works well.

Really good app. Quiet fast. I was annoy to only find 4 computers when buying the whole app (but i hope other are coming). Please also had a stat modules to record numbers of play with each faction,% win loose ... Waiting updates

I love this app since I retreived all the offline game and it only misses some AI levels to get the highest mark. The AI is too easy and I am not found of the online gaming so...

Brilliant implementation of a fun board game. The only minor issue Ive had with it so far is the annoying need to "double click" in order to zoom in the cards, as it holds a bit the game flow.

Plays like a mixture of chess and magic the gathering (without the pay to win of magic). If you like strategic games and especially deckbuilders: try it ! Im up for some matches, add "Duriel" ingame :) The only improvement Id like to recommend is being able to accept dice rolls with a tap anywhere on the screen instead of on the dice. Breaks the gameflow slightly imho, perfect UI otherwise.

Some bad moments

It crashes if wifi is on I have to put it on airplane mode to play. You can only play as one person and its super expensive to unlock everything (for me anyway) and I really hope you guys improve this game alot

I love this board game to bits. The app, however, is buggy and incredibly far behind on adding the expansions that the board game has had for years. The app is extremely limited when it comes to summoner and unit choices. It hasnt seen an update in a long time and has some actual strategy bugs too, and since everything is automated in the UI, you cant fix them. I think this app could be great if playdek tried at all. But for now just go play the game on Vassal.

Often crashes, difficult to play. Reached out to the company and they were not helpful. Do not buy this!

When I get three 1s in a row, and the computer gets 5 for 5 on its last move to kill my summoner, its really hard to believe the game is fair. One time I could forgive, dice streaks happen, but Ive played maybe 50 games against the computer at this point and something like that happens in about half of them. And it always happens when the computer gambles on getting the last hit.

Game game is fun and the AI is reasonably challenging. The problem is the cheating dice. The AI seams to hit about 66% of the time. That is good, because a hit is a 3-6 on a 6 sided die. Unfortunately I roll 1s and 2s 66% of the time. It is extremely frustration to roll 5 1s or 2s at a critical moment just to have the computer hit 5 in a row. I understand that bad rolls happen but the frequency is just too obvious. I also am suspicious about the computer having the right cards at the right moment but this may just be due to my frustration of the non-random die roles.
