Summoner Wars App Reviews

104 add

IAP problem fixed and proper (good) rating restored.

Took a while, but the app has been fixed and I can enjoy this excellent game again. Only thing needed to boost it to a 5 star rating would be to upgrade the AI so that it can play all factions in solo mode.

Shaftshooter

IAP is fixed for now so Im restoring my original score. A great port of the real board game!

Absolutely fantastic

Excellent strategic card game, the app makes it easy to play online and I havent been able to put it down for days. Games are quick, less than 30 minutes and the different factions are a lot of fun to explore. A must buy.

Keep working!!!

Last update is a bit more from minor fixes. Now Ai plays more better and use custom decks!!!

WTH!! Not Again!!

IAP not working and I bought them all! Fix it NOW!! What are you doing, Playdek?!?!

Great Strategy Game

This game is a fantastic thinker game. Online play is great and local gaming is good, too. Its worth getting all the factions because it provides lots of variety and re-playability. Ive been playing this game for over a year now and its never gotten old.

Fury too powerful

Game loses its fun when in one turn the computer makes 8 attacks using over powered "fury" ability (somehow always rolls a 5 or 6 to get an extra attack) completely using one unit to win the game. Dont know if it is computer cheating, or horribly unbalanced ability. Just is not fun going from having the upper hand in a game, to losing in one turn.

Play this game!

This is a great board game and a great app. I wish this one was as popular as other lcgs or even mtg. It pays off if you invest the time to learn it

Very Fun, Needs an Undo button.

I love Summoner Wars, both in physical form and in this app. The only thing I can suggest to make it better is to have an Undo button, in case you skip your attack step, thinking you were ending the movement step. And putting up some more factions/Second Summoners.

Amazing Game, Superb Value

This is a amazing replication of the tabletop game of Summoner Wars, a tactical game in which the pieces are the cards. Each unit of ones faction has a special ability that allows it to bend one of the basic rules of movement or combat. To master Summoner Wars, a player must learn how to combine the abilities of his faction best. The iOS implementation of this game is perfectly executed! The app lacks any chat options, but even still I have to give this a perfect score. It plays, both offline and online, perfectly. Additional options are icing on a perfect cake. Congratulations Plaid Hat Games and Playdek!

Easy, fun, addictive

I learned how to play summoner wars in person but I think that the iOS version is just as good, if not a tad better. With built in reminders when units can/cant do something you dont make silly mistakes. Plenty of cards and customization, although I really hope to see more units in the near future. Love the unique planning boards for each faction!

why the cost?!?

I would rather buy this game for a few bucks than having to buy every deck except the starters for two. game looked fun and challenging but having only one deck is a huge draw back in my eyes

Been looking for this

Wowee this is the best game ive found in a while

Not bad…if you like lag time…and unintuitiveness…and unbalanced gameplay...

First off, the game is really fun and the reason I bought the app. BUT…The game is not intuitive and it Its not clear what youre purchasing in the In-App store, and once you DO buy it, most of the dcks arent something you can play against computer AI. So…you have only a few armies you can play against AI. Also, THE LAG TIME BETWEEN TURNS AND PHASES IS UNREAL. It feels like theyre trying to emulate your computer opponent thinking for an inordinate amount of time rather than just playing their turn. Bottom line, If I had bought the app first, I never would have bought the actual card game or any of the upgrades. There are also abilities that are beyond imbalanced. I played 10 games as the Tundra Orcs and never lost. I played 10 games AGAINST the Tundra Orcs and only won a single time. The cards and abilities of the Tundra Orcs seem to work out an inordinately high percentage of the time on the App, as opposed to real life where we did the same experiment and I won 6 times playing the Orcs and lost 5 times against the Orcs. Bottom line? It doesnt seem like the numbers on the App are truly random…ESPECIALLY when you have more units. In this case, the Fury ability will almost always work and take you from 6 units to 2 units in a single turn. Its like they programmed in a forced game balancer when youre playing AI, and it makes the game horribly un-fun. I deleted it from my iPhone after we conducted our experiment. Very disappointing for a game that is great in real life.

Fun Game

Overall, its a great game. The app could use some polishing up though. Gave it 4 stars only because the cpu will freeze on occasion forcing me to back out of the game and restart.

Combat fantasy strategy board game and cards

Worked best on iPad Air and iPad mini. Works good on iPhone 5 but due to limited screen space on the phones the UI can become very cluttered. If you like card battlers like Magic the gathering mixed with a grid board for strategically moving your units against opposing players this is it. Its theme is fantasy there are various decks such as thieves, mind control mages, ogre decks etc. There are spells and enchantments and add a welcoming layer of challenge. Theres PVP online and offline. Solo players will love the PVE but 2 of the in app purchased add on decks do not have AI built for them (benders and thieves). When solo playing the enemies AI may take a minute to respond on his turn. Not game breaking but could become frustrating. Also to unlock all decks it will cost you about $8 is it worth it yes but its not for everyone give it a shot if you like it unlock it.

Great game but...

I love the digital game as well as the board game. It reminds me of MTG but I like it more. HOWEVER, the app implementation, while good, could use some crucial tweaks. There needs to be an undo button that will go back one move (as long as its not redoing an attack or something where you are undoing after knowing the result). For example, occasionally Ill summon a wall or a unit to the wrong space and I cant undo it like I could in the physical board game. Similarly, I once ended the attack phase with an extra attack point still remaining and then realized I had another unit I forgot to attack with using their special ability and it I couldnt go back and do it. Very frustrating when it messes up your strategy on such a strategic game. :-/

Absolute garbage

This is the worst game Ive ever gotten off the App Store. The computer took forever to chose what to do and always rolled 5s or 6s. I couldnt even get through one game before deleting the app.

Ok but needs work

Lots of potential but text and cards are too small, game locks up quite a bit and AI takes a long time to decide in offline mode. Does have some strategic thinking involved and the games can be quick.

Great app!

Ive played many games if Summoner Wars face to face and now on the app. I keep finding more enjoyment the more I play. I quickly unlocked all decks in the bundle. I hope they add the other decks soon!
